Resist and Resist Again

The enemy likes to repetitively assault us in the same areas until we feel defeated. This can allow doubt to creep in, making us feel like we don’t stand out in this dark and lost world. God’s grace empowers us to shine, but being distinguished does not come without a fight.

You must know that the enemy is afraid of you. When he looks at you, he doesn’t see who your friends see; he sees Christ. He will do everything in his power to keep your light from impacting the world. It is vital to realize that God has called and equipped us to fight the enemy directly. By decree, God gave all authority to Jesus, and Jesus in turn gave it to us.

Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.Luke 10:19 AMP

The devil has one mission: to steal, kill, and destroy. We are in a spiritual war, and God wants us alert and watchful of what is going on. When the enemy strikes, God wants us to take the weapons He has provided and resist the devil steadfastly so that we can prevent our minds from being penetrated with lies, anger, and fear. The content of our minds fills the corridors of our hearts. Our hearts direct the course of our lives. When the enemy infiltrates our minds, our lives are hindered from standing out.

Make a list of the areas where Satan usually attacks you. Dedicate yourself to relentlessly stand against the devil in those areas this week. Meditate on Scriptures that reveal your authority and the promises of God in the situation. When the enemy attacks, we must do more than read Scripture—we must speak it! Verbally resist the devil and claim the truth of God’s Word over your life.

You are God’s anointed one. You’re made in the image of the One who destroyed the devil and took away all his armor and weapons. You are a threat to the enemy!
